Nyxiontech PDF Tools › PDF to text
Extract text from a PDF
Get the plain text out of a PDF: copy it to the clipboard with one click or save it as a .txt file. Useful for quoting, translating, or feeding a document into another program.
This reads the text the PDF already contains. A scanned document has no text, only images of it; run it through OCR first and then extract the text.
How to use it
- Drop a PDF.
- Click "Extract text".
- Copy the text, or download it as a .txt file.
Questions
Why is no text found?
The PDF is probably a scan. Use OCR to recognise the text first.
Is the formatting kept?
No, you get plain text. To keep paragraphs and bold text in an editable document, use PDF to Word.
Does it handle Polish characters?
Yes. The text is saved as UTF-8, so Polish and other characters come through correctly.
Are my files uploaded?
No. PDF to text runs in your browser on your own device, so your files never leave it. It is free, with no account, no limits and no watermark, and the code is open source (AGPL-3.0).
