Add page numbers to a PDF

Number every page of a report, thesis or contract in seconds. Choose one of six positions (top or bottom, left, centre or right), a format such as "3", "3 / 12" or "Page 3 of 12", or write your own using {n} for the page number and {total} for the page count.

Set the font, size, colour and distance from the edge. Numbering can start at any number, and the first page (a cover) can be skipped.

How to use it

  1. Drop a PDF.
  2. Pick the position and format, and adjust the font, size, margin and colour if needed.
  3. Click "Add page numbers" and download the numbered PDF.

Questions

Can I leave the cover page without a number?

Yes. Tick "Skip the first page (cover)"; numbering then continues from the second page.

Can numbering start at a number other than 1?

Yes. Set "Start at" to any number, for example when the PDF is a chapter of a longer document.

Is the original content changed?

No. The numbers are added on top of each page; the rest of the page stays as it was.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Add page numbers runs in your browser on your own device, so your files never leave it. It is free, with no account, no limits and no watermark, and the code is open source (AGPL-3.0).
