# Nyxiontech PDF Tools

> Free, open-source PDF and image tools that run entirely in the browser. Files are never uploaded: there is no server-side processing, no account, no tracking and no file limits. Made by Nyxiontech (https://nyxiontech.com), licensed AGPL-3.0. Also available as a Windows desktop app.

## Frequently asked questions

- Are my files uploaded? No. Every tool runs in your browser on your own device; the files never leave it. The page loads its code once from tools.nyxiontech.com and makes no other requests.
- Is it free? Yes, with no limits, sign-up or watermarks. It is open source under the GNU AGPL v3. Donations are welcome at https://ko-fi.com/nyxiontech.
- Does it work offline? The Windows app works fully offline. The web version needs a connection to load a tool's files (for example the OCR language data) the first time you use it.
- How do I make a scanned PDF searchable? Use "OCR: searchable PDF". It adds an invisible text layer over the unchanged page images.
- How do I sign a PDF for free? Open "Sign PDF", draw, type or upload your signature and place it on the page, then download.
- Is redaction safe? Yes. Pages with redactions are re-rendered as images with the boxes burnt in, so the hidden text is removed, not just covered.
- Which alternatives does it replace? Online services such as iLovePDF, Smallpdf or Adobe Acrobat online for everyday tasks, without uploading documents.
